Do misconceptions about private jet travel keep you from experiencing more freedom and greater luxury? If so, you may be missing out on many benefits by not examining all the facts. Let’s debunk some common myths that could be limiting your options and depriving you of this exceptional air travel alternative.

Misconception #1: Private Jet Hire Costs More Than Ownership

One of the biggest misunderstandings about private jet charter is that you must pay a premium price to fly in a safe, high-end aircraft. This is not true. Private jet aircraft are certified by third-party auditors to ensure both plane safety and crew competence. Private jets must meet the same safety standards as commercial planes.

With private jet hire, you do not pay more for guaranteed availability. Fractional ownership companies have more clients than planes. They rely on charter companies for the guaranteed availability they provide. Fractional jet ownership is not always cheaper over time than charter service. With private jet charter, you pay only for the flights you use. By contrast, fractional ownership requires an upfront payment and a long-term contract. This can be very costly if you don’t use the aircraft as planned or if other conflicts arise.

It’s also untrue that you must request empty-leg pricing in order to receive it. Most private jet hire services outsource all empty legs as a matter of course for one-way trips. This creates savings for travellers and private jet charter companies alike.

Misconception #2: Jet Ownership Is More Flexible Than Jet Charter

Jet ownership requires a long-term commitment and a significant cash investment. Private jet hire gives you the freedom to fly on your own terms. You can hire private jets as needed, choose the right plane for any trip, and save money on empty leg flights.

Misconception #3: Large Companies Use Different Planes

Private jets come in all shapes and sizes. Private jet charter companies are fully equipped to provide the private jet aircraft that best serves your needs. The size of the company has nothing to do with the selection of planes.

Misconception #4: Jet Charter Is Only Good For Business Travel

Jet charter offers VIP customer care, complete privacy, more luxury, and greater flexibility than commercial flights, whether you fly for business or for pleasure. Regardless of destination, there’s never a hassle with commercial hubs or long airport lines.

Misconception #5: Jet Ownership Is More Convenient Than Private Jet Charter

Owning a jet doesn’t mean more convenience when your private jet charter can be ready to go within a few hours. One phone call reserves your plane wherever and whenever you wish. Just drive to the airport, park beside the unmarked jet, and your pilot will greet you personally. Within minutes, you’ll be in the air.

Stock the plane with your favourite foods, beverages, music and films. Bring the kids and pets. Fly straight to over 5,000 destinations worldwide. Why bother investing in costly jet ownership when you can have it all with private jet charter?

Darren Ferguson follows the aviation industry like a hawk (horrible pun intended). He has a particular interest in private jets.

Cancun is a unique city in Mexico in that it was developed from the onset for tourist activities. Several factors motivated the decision to develop the region, but two of the largest were the area’s beautiful beaches, and also the favorable climate. Today, the city is home to dozens of resorts, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

While a trip to any Cancun mega-resort will undoubtedly be enjoyable for most, there has already been much literature written on the subject. There is much less information available, however, concerning activities away from the commercially developed centers. In this article we look at some of the local attractions that are less glitzy, yet in some ways even more rewarding to visit.

Where to Stay
One only has to look online to find a list of dozens of all-inclusive super hotels that offer multiple swimming pools, world-class golf courses, and beach cabanas. These resorts are great, but like I said, they aren’t the focus of this article. For a more intimate experience, try staying at Avalon Baccara. This boutique hotel feels more like an old-world Mansion than a resort, and has only 27 rooms. It’s located directly on the beach, so you won’t have to miss out on any sunbathing, and all rooms come with a view of the water. You can book here from $105 a night when using a Travelocity promo code.

Visiting Chichen Itza
It must be admitted that the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza aren’t exactly a local secret. That being said, an astounding number of visitors each year come to Cancun without bothering to make the trip. The site is roughly six square miles, and features Kukulkan’s pyramid, a 75-foot structure that will amaze visitors. There is also an amazing Cenote on the property (called Cenote Sagrado), which is 200 feet in diameter and filled with water. This is a beautiful semi-natural feature, but the serenity is tampered by the fact that the Mayan’s put the bodies of their sacrificed in here. Either way, it’s definitely a must see.

The Most Secluded Beach in Mexico
About three hours from Cancun lies Holbox Island, which is part of the Yum Balam ecological reserve. The island features miles upon miles of white sand beaches, and is only accessible by Seaplane or boat. There is very little electricity on the island, and few visitors, which means you’re likely to have a whole stretch of beach to yourself if you make the trip. Holbox Island was ranked by Forbes Magazine as one of the ten most secluded beaches in the world!

Go Fish
Cancun has some of the best sport fishing in the world, yet only a small percentage of visitors take the time to enjoy this activity. Of those who do go fishing in Cancun, the vast majority do so in the gulf. A much easier option for those who’d like to experience the thrill of the hunt is to fly fish in the salt water flats that surround the city. Guided tours are available through Cancun Fly Fishing (cancunflyfishing.net) and are fairly affordable.

Watch a Bullfight
Nothing tops a day of fly fishing like watching a perilous bullfight, especially If you’re looking to get your inner-Hemmingway on. The Plaza de Torros in Cancun is a beautifully built arena, and visitors can watch brave matadors battle some of the world’s most dangerous bulls. Bullfights happen every Wednesday at 3:30 pm local time.

The truth is that any vacation will be what you make of it. If the goal of your trip is to waste away on a warm beach, drinking tropical concoctions and taking in the sun, then more power to you. Still, there are a lot of great attractions in Cancun that often get overlooked, and they can certainly enrich your experience.

Stefan Georgi is a frequent travel blogger who loves visiting Cancun. He highly recommends using a Travelocity promo code when booking a room at the Avalon Baccara hotel.

There is much more to Irish brews than just Guinness, and as Ireland is known for being the drinking country of the world, it would be a crime to visit the country and not go on at least one brewery or distillery tour. There are dozens of breweries in Ireland that are happy to provide tours to tourists; below are just some of our favourites. Be sure to phone ahead and book your place on a tour in advance to avoid disappointment.

Arthur Guinness Son and Co.

Guinness is the most well-known beer that comes from Ireland so if you visit any brewery in the country make sure it is this one! Located in Dublin, the Guinness storehouse is open from 9.30am to 5pm, seven days a week. Your tour will begin in the world’s largest pint glass and in the huge Guinness memorabilia store. You will learn all about the brewing process and even be able to sample some freshly brewed Guinness if you wish. Prices vary from 14.40 euros for adults to 5 euros for children, and special tours can also be arranged for large parties.

Hilden Brewery

Located in between the cities of Belfast and Lisburn, the Hilden Brewery is the oldest independent brewery in Ireland. Visitors to the brewery will be given information about the brewery and taught about the Hilden brewing process. Tours last for approximately one hour and end in the tap room where samples of the Hilden beers can be enjoyed. The tours cost £4.50 per person and are available by appointment from 11.30am to 6.30pm on Tuesday through Saturday. The 19th century Hilden House restaurant can also be visited, and visitors can enjoy some world class cuisine.

Smithwicks

Smithwicks Brewery is located in Kilkenny and is the home of Smithwicks Ale. Said to be the oldest working brewery in Ireland (it dates back to 1231), tourists to the brewery can gain a true insight into the traditional Irish brewing process. Tours last for approximately ninety minutes and are available at 12pm, 1pm, 3pm and 3.30pm on Tuesday to Saturday, although you are highly advised to book in advance. Each tour costs 10 euros per person with a complimentary tasting session included. If you like pale ales, this is the tour for you!

Jameson’s Whiskey

Jameson’s is a world popular whiskey that comes from Ireland. There are two distilleries in the country that offer tours; with the main one being in Dublin. Open seven days a week, tours around the Jameson’s distillery are led by expert guides who will speak to you about the history of the company and guide you through the recreated distillery. Tours come complete with a complimentary glass of Jameson’s (plus a mixer if required) and there is even a chance for visitors to become a “qualified whiskey taster”. Tours end in the gift shop and the restaurant where a delicious lunch can be enjoyed, and gifts can be bought for friends and family members. Tours are available seven days a week at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm with prices ranging from 11.70 euros for adults to 9.60 euros for senior citizens and 7.70 euros for children.

If you are heading to Ireland on your holidays, make sure you book into a great hotel for your stay. There are a variety of Newry hotels available, that are sure to suit any budget.

Malta is more renowned for its blonde beaches and azure waters than for its theatre productions. However, to visit the island and not explore the Maltese theatres would be a small tragedy, as the theatres Malta hosts are marvels in their own right. Although only a handful of Maltese theatres exist, they are as much a part of Malta’s heritage as other historical sites and exhibit the fine craftsmanship of their time. Below is a description of Malta’s oldest theatre, including its history and current performances.

Manoel Theatre, Malta

After centuries of political disorder, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta resulted in a period of stability and development on the islands. Valletta became the administrative capital of the Order and witnessed further development as the cultural hub. By the 17th century, the demand for opera and theatre in Malta warranted the construction of a dedicated theatre house. In 1731 the Grand Master at the time Manoel de Vilhena, commissioned and sponsored the building of Malta’s first public theatre. Modelled around the semi-circular design of the Palermo Theatre in Italy it was made entirely from wood. January 9th 1732 saw the grand opening, a production of Scipione Maffei’s tragedy, Merope. It continued to specialise in operas and French tragedies for the next sixty years. During these years, Malta’s Manoel theatre witnessed French rule, civil strife and then liberation.

By the 19th century the Malta Manoel theatre became known as the Royal Theatre and was revamped to accommodate larger audiences. Eventually though, its popularity exceeded its size and the Malta Manoel theatre was sold as people were drawn to a recently completed opera house. A fire in this new opera house gave the Manoel theatre in Malta a new lease on life, but after the reconstruction of the fire-damaged opera house, numbers ceased again. A second rebirth was experienced after that same opera house was destroyed in World War Two. The Malta Manoel theatre once again rose from the ashes. Extensive restoration programme saw the return of its former beauty and grandeur, officially reopening in 1960. The Manoel theatre is Malta, is truly a gem of national heritage.

The Manoel Theatre Today

Today the premier theatre of Malta hosts a variety of performances, from musicals and plays to stand up comedies and concerts. Productions for January and February include Alice in Wonderland, an Evening of Chamber Music, Oliver Twist and an Evening with Beethoven. For a comprehensive list visit the Malta Manoel website.

Penny Munroe is an avid writer in travel news from around the world and aims to educate readers on the myriad of world destinations and cultures. Based in a Malta Hotel, she is currently exploring the islands of Malta, Goza and Comino.

If there’s one thing Sydney does well, it’s the beaches. No matter if you’re looking for waves, a quiet place to relax or a secluded area to remove all of your tan lines, Sydney has something to offer.

If you want to take in as many beaches as you can when you’re visiting, you’ll be best suited to book Sydney accommodation in the city centre, where you can enjoy a wide range of bars and shops in the evenings and your days off.

Bondi

Bondi is possibly the most famous beach in Australia, if not the world, and for a few good reasons. Clean sand, big waves and a host of seaside cafes to grab a spot of lunch are just some of the reasons why droves of visitors regularly flock to the spot. Of course, its popularity means that you’ll likely be lying shoulder to shoulder with other beach goers, which isn’t what everyone’s after. If you find the crowds are too much for you, there’s a scenic walk to Coogee, another popular, but smaller, beach. Between the two is Tamarama, a beach with large waves that is steadily growing in popularity.

Manly

A short ferry ride north of Circular Quay, passing the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge, is Manly Beach. Manly was named so by Governor Phillip because of the manly appearance of the locals, and the beach is the place to see the area’s best specimens. Further north are Dee Why and Balmoral, both beautiful and generally quieter than Manly, as well as Palm Beach, which is popular with UK tourists wishing to visit Home and Away’s Summer Bay. To the south of Manly is Shelley Beach, loved by the locals for its sheltered swimming conditions.

Nudey

There are three beaches in Sydney that allow nude bathing, all north of the city centre. Obelisk and Cobblers are both on the eastern side of Mosman, within easy walking distance of Balmoral Beach. Meanwhile the popular Lady Bay, or Lady Jane can be reached by a ferry to Watson’s Bay. Lady Bay is New South Wales’ older free bathing spot but beware that nowadays many of the tour boats from Circular Quay include the beach as an item of amusement on their excursions.

Sarah Paige loves the Sydney beaches so no matter which of the beaches you want to see, there’s Sydney accommodation that caters to each area, and plenty in the city centre allowing you to make use of the various forms of public transport needed to reach the most desirable parts of Sydney.

Europe is one of the world’s smaller continents. The continent is alienated from Asia to the East, by the watersheds of the Ural and Caucasus Mountain. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean and other water bodies and the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea. Europe gave birth to Western culture.

The Continent’s culture could be described as an interesting mix of cultures. Catholicism, Protestantism, Secularism have claimed to identify with cultural lines across Continents. The cultural foundation was laid down by the Greeks. It was later strengthened by the Romans, which was then stabilized by Christianity. European Culture was developed into a complex phenomenon of philosophy and secular humanism. The rational and logical way of life and thinking developed amongst an age of change and enlightenment, naturalism, romanticism, science, democracy and socialism. The culture has grown to adapt and influence other trends of humanity.

Continental Cuisine includes non indigenous cuisines of North America, Australasia, Oceania, and Latin America, which derive substantial influence from European settlers in those regions. The term was 1st introduced by the East Asians in comparison with the Asian styles of cooking. The westerners referred to the European cuisine as the continental cuisine. Regardless of its location, the continent has a pleasant climate. The pleasant climate is due to the influence of the oceans and seas. Rain falls throughout the year and snow is rare. Humidity is often found on most days along with fogs and cloudy skies. Europe consists of 40 different nationalities and people with similar language, history and culture. Most nationalities are scattered throughout the countries.

Europe is known for its rich cultural heritage from the Greek and Roman Civilizations. European schools and universities consider and accept students from all parts of the world. Higher education is not easily available to the mass. Smart children and children from wealthy families only are given the opportunity of a higher education.

Tokyo is one of Japan’s 47 prefectures. The metropolis is located to the southeast of Honshu and comprises both the Izu and Ogasawara Islands. Founded in 1943, the metro is a result of a merger (Tokyo Prefecture + the city). As the official capital of Japan, the metro also goes by epithets like the Greater Tokyo Area. Today, the region is the home of the Japanese government and the Imperial Family. Tokyo attracts tourists from all over the world all year through, and banks on its rivers for green cover and popular tourist attractions. Did you know that Tokyo was actually originally called Edo, which means estuary?

Initially fortified by the Edo clan, the city continues to rely on its waters to bring in the tourists. If Japan is anywhere on the vacation itinerary then you must explore the many places directly dunked and enriched by the rivers of Tokyo. The Kanto plain that holds the metro faces Tokyo bay and cradles two rivers, the Sumida River (running north to the south) and the Tama River (running west to the east). The latter also serves a border between Tokyo and Kawasaki. The Sumida River branches out towards the Tokyo Bay from the Arakawa. Its rich tributaries that also flow within the region and enrich eco-tourism include the Shakujii and Kanda.

The Sumida River is actually the result of efforts made during the Meiji era to divert the flood waters of the Arakawa. This one single water body has created biomes along the pathway at Kita, Sumida, Adachi, Taito, Arakawa, Kōtō and Chūō. On the other hand the Tama River in the Prefectures of Yamanashi, Kanagawa and Tokyo is a Class 1 water body (declared by the Japanese government). Meandering through all of 138 km and spanning a basin of more than 760 square miles, this river functions as a dividing line between Kanagawa and Tokyo.

The banks provide tourists with ample opportunity to bask in parks and popular picnic spots, indulging some fantastic sports fields. The rivers of Tokyo are very popular for kayaking. The official Japan National Slalom Kayak races are held on the Tama, on its way to Mitake. It is due to the rivers that Tokyo is recognized as home to lush sports fields where a range of sports, including baseball, rugby and soccer are played. The Tamariba Rugby Club is even named after one of Tokyo’s main rivers. The water biomes enrich Tokyo with playgrounds, golf turfs, parks, bike paths, nature trails and really mesmerizing picnic spots.

The length of both the rivers facilitates easy access of these opportunities as they wind through the metro and meander on towards the Tokyo Bay. The rivers have take Tokyo to the top 5 of the world tourism charts and bring in visitors to more than just Mt. Fuji. Both the rivers have earned marked respect amongst the locals and influence many a visitor with a sense of awe too. It is not at all difficult to see how waterways enabled the early cities to thrive. Tokyo, in the orient, is one such surviving example.

People who live in cold climates usually want to spend vacations in warm places. Going to the tropics, sun bathing on white sand beaches and enjoying water sports are the stuff that many vacationers look forward to. However, if you want a truly hot summer, visit one of the five places below which researchers say have experienced the highest temperatures ever recorded in the world.

El Azizia, Libya

This is the worst time to visit Libya because of the political unrest enveloping this African nation. However, if you are in for an adventure and should the political condition in Libya improve considerably in the near future, consider going to the desert of El Azizia which is one of the hottest places on the globe. In 1922, the Libyan dessert recorded a temperature of 150°F.

Lout Desert, Iran

Some say that you cannot stare at Lout Desert’s horizon for over a minute during lunchtime because the extreme heat can cause your left brain to doze off. This mysterious dessert in Iran has said to have recorded a temperature well above 158°F. It is located in the Kerman Province which is famous for its historical places and architectural marvels.

Death Valley, United States

In the summer of 1917, Death Valley was one of the world’s hottest places. From July 6 to August 17 of that year, temperatures rose beyond 120°F. Officially part of the United States, Death Valley lies within Nevada’s Mojave Dessert. Today, temperatures continue to go over 110°F. You can find lodging in Death Valley National Park or in places outside of the park’s territory.

Arizona, United States

Nevada and Arizona are two of the hottest places in America. In the past, temperatures in the Arizona dessert were recorded above 120°F. After driving through the hot desserts of Arizona, make sure to visit the Grand Canyons so you can cool down. Don’t miss the Grand Canyon Skywalk where you can see the Colorado River, 4,000 feet below.

Kebili, Tunisia

One of the highest temperatures recorded in Kebili was 131°F. It is a dessert town that was once important to the slave market in the region. Away from Kebili, there are tourist destinations in Tunisia that are well worth your visit. See well preserved Roman ruins, enjoy the beaches or go on an oasis tour.

Tirat Zvi, Israel

Located in Beit She’an Valley, in 1942, Tirat Zvi’s temperature was at its highest: 129°F. Visitors to Israel can hire a guide to bring them to Tirat Zvi. While there, you can do some bird watching as well as visit ancient ruins.

2011 has seen warmer-than-average weather conditions all over the globe. Aside from the locations above, there are other hot spots that you can visit. Before choosing your hottest destination, check the weather forecast. Remember to keep hydrated when you get there and to bring clothing that is appropriate to the current climate.

Break free from icy cold and make your way to a sun-drenched destination. There are tons of hotspots where the sun shines all year round and it definitely will be worth it if you get to spend it with your friends and families. You can start doing people search and connect with your friends or relatives where to go or how to plan your budget.
